人間とコンピュータの融合、私はどこまで私か

人間とコンピュータが融合した時、私はどこまで私か。今日、コンピュータはもはや単なる道具を超えて、私たちの身体や行動に深く組み込まれている。人間がコンピュータとの統合によって既存の限界を超えた能力や新たな身体性を獲得する時、自己の在り方はどのように変わるのか。私たちの研究チームは、コンピュータと融合によって生まれる新たな人間性――「Cybernetic Humanity」を主軸に、身体能力の拡張と主観性、自己認識の解明、さらにはコミュニケーション形態の変容を研究している。本講演では、身体拡張と視覚・多感覚統合による主観的経験、自己認識と運動の離合、自己帰属の束縛といった、人間特有の抗いがたい性質とその柔軟性にいかに向き合い、それらを足がかりとして、コンピュータ科学と人間科学が交差する中から新たな人間性を生み出し得るのかを議論する。
When humans and computers merge, where does the boundary of “self” lie? Today, computers are no longer mere tools; they are deeply embedded in our bodies and behaviors. As humans integrate with computers to acquire abilities beyond existing limits and gain new forms of embodiment, how can we define the self?
Our research team focuses on “Cybernetic Humanity,” a new human nature emerging from the fusion of humans and computers—exploring the enhancement of physical capabilities, the dynamics of subjectivity and self-awareness, and the transformation of communication modalities. In this talk, I will discuss how we confront human-specific, irrepressible traits and their flexibility—such as subjective experiences shaped by bodily augmentation and visual/multisensory integration, the dissociation and convergence of self-awareness and movement, and the constraints of self-attribution—and how these can serve as footholds for generating new forms of humanity at the intersection of computer science and human science.
