I am thrilled to announce that I will be running a new research studio in Okinawa at the OIST Campus in collaboration with SonyCSL and OIST. Here’s the story behind it.

——

Through my Superception projects, I have realized that it is time to seriously consider how our humanity will be shaped by human-computer integration, such as the emergence of AI. As a result, I have updated my research concept as “Cybernetic Humanity“.

Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University

To pursue research in Cybernetic Humanity, I needed a hybrid approach that incorporates both emerging computer science and fundamental human science. Therefore, I have decided to collaborate closely with OIST, which I find to be the most intriguing place.

At the Cybernetic Humanity Studio, we explore the emerging “new humanity”, and its impact on our subjectivity, embodiment, and society. with an interdisciplinary exchange, we aim better understand and contribute to its responsible and ethical development.

Stay tuned for existing updates on #CyberneticHumanity Studio. As for me, I will retain my main position at Sony CSL Tokyo and will be traveling between Tokyo and Okinawa / OIST. However, I will mainly be living in Okinawa’s Onna village.
